The
Monroe Varsity tennis team has been on a roller coaster
season this year, with surprises around every corner.
The starting line-up has gone through many different
alterations, but the semiconcrete roles are as follows:
Michael Pope at first singles, Erin Smith at second
singles, Joe Irwin at third singles, Adam Wilson/Richard
Irwin at first doubles, and Derek Garde/Will Garde
at second doubles.
The
most variation occurs in the second doubles position.
Jeremy Brown and Kelli McCreight have both played
as starting lineup in the second doubles position.
The April 14 match against Northwest was a loss with
a score of Northwest 4, Monroe 1. Michael Pope won
his match. On April 15 and 16, Monroe lost to both
Waynesville and Wyoming with scores of 5-0 and 5-0
respectively. On April 21, the Hornet tennis team
faced Franklin and lost 5-0. The team has pulled away
with a 2-8 season so far with several more matches
to go. Go Hornets!
