There are several movies out for the holidays
currently and several upcoming ones. Movies
are scored by stars with 5 stars being a great
movie and 1 star indicating a poor one. A few
holiday movies that are in theaters now are:
“Fred Clause” (3 out 5 stars), “Enchanted”
(4 out of 5 stars), and “Mr. Magorium’s
Wonder Emporium” (2 out of 4 stars).
Future holiday movies are: “Alvin and
the Chipmunks”, “This Christmas”,
and “The Perfect Holiday”. Also,
some holiday classics you should be sure to
see this holiday season include: “The
Grinch” (4 out of 5 stars), “A Charlie
Brown Christmas” (4 out of 5 stars), “The
Polar Express” (4 out of 5 stars), “The
Santa Clause” (3 out of 5 stars), and
“A Christmas Story” (3 out of 5
stars). I have seen “Fred Clause”
which is out in theaters currently. As a critic,
I would give this movie 3 out of 5 stars. As
a teenager, I thought this movie was funny and
had some heartfelt moments. Most holiday movies
are aimed more at children and that’s
what makes them magical. This movie, however,
was aimed more in the adult direction. “Fred
Clause” had a clever twist, focusing on
Santa’s brother rather than Santa himself.
Vince Vaughn plays an adult man with a chip
on his shoulder from feeling neglected as a
child. Paul Giamatti plays Santa Clause, a saint
who is viewed as the better son by his mother
of two. In the end, the brothers reconcile and
Fred (a former Christmas hater) saves Christmas.
I would recommend this movie for adults and
teens, but I do not think children would enjoy
this movie much.
