The hornethallway.com page
was established about 2001. The goal of the web page was to give the
students of Monroe High School a hands on tool for learning about web
pages design and processes. Along with this, the students also could
provide a valuable service to the district by providing web design services
As web design has evolved,
so has hornethallway.com. For 2009, the Advanced Internet students of
Monroe High School have taken on the entire hornethallway.com site and
rebuilt it from the ground up.
The
goal was to:
- Bring all sections up
to date
- Eliminate non-active sections
- Establish a design standard
for all sections
- Establish standard color
codes and style elements
- Convert the entire site
to ColdFusion using <cfinclude> tags to facilitate quicker easier
updates in the future
- Produce an independent
"Athletic Department" pages for all sports teams and athletic
events
- Incorporate "RSS"
feeds from HighSchoolSports.net
- Create a design that allowed
for expansion and updates
- Design sustainable and
friendly navigation features
- Modernize all custom graphics
- use copyright free graphics
from within the school
Student
Classroom activity
- Students guided the project
with design ideas
- Students picked sections
and prioritized them
- Students looked at the
development needs of the page and sections and determined what was
needed
- Students set timeline
and competition dates
- Students worked in collaborative
roles with each other to solve problems and share techniques
