Girl's Basketball Player Expectations

Colleagues,

For the girls who are members of the 2009/2010 year girl’s basketball team.

We have conveyed the expectations, on and off the court; they will have to meet to earn playing time within our program. Academic priorities are the number one focus for our program.

Our program goal is to have a 3.0 collective, and all Varsity players are to push towards greater academic results as evidenced by high school honor roll status.

We gave the girls 5 helpful hints to start the school year and expect the girls to continue to demonstrate presently. Please contact me (kdoan@monroelocalschools.com) to convey any concerns regarding JH/JV/Varsity players.
The girls have been told to:

  1. Participate actively in class by staying alert maintaining eye contact with your teacher… asking and answering questions.
  2. Take notes, write down all assignments in your planner, and use a highlighter daily to identify key information.
  3. Spend 10 minutes to review notes, examples, and worksheets in all core courses every day in addition to doing the obligatory practice HW. This is how you study daily before you even know a test is coming soon.
  4. Always do all your assignments to completion and turn them in on time… never miss assignments.
  5. Make your teachers view you as a “teacher pleaser”. Show your teachers that you are always responsible and serious about your education (this includes being to class on time). Make sure your teachers don’t think you are more concerned with talking, goofing around, or being lady in class. Perhaps, this positive reputation you have can translate into 1 extra point on an essay or project, group project, or participation assignment.

Thank you for your time!
