Lady Hornets Bowling Team 2010-2011

Archives | 2008 - 2009 | 2009 -2010 | 2010 - 2011 |

Welcome to our 4th Season of bowling here at Monroe High School. This proves to be an interesting year as we are going to carry 14 girls on the team with only 1 returner (Caroline Woodrome). We have a big sophomore class with 8 on the team. This should be an exciting year as we have 3 juniors, 8 sophomores and 3 freshmen on the team. Talk about building for the future.

1/12/2011 Monroe vs. Lakota East

The girls won their 3rd match of the season with strong outings from Faith Stolzenberger, Caroline Woodrome, and Taylor Sealock. Faith had a 120 – 154 = 274 series for best output of the year so far. Caroline Woodrome had a solid 293 series with a 136 1st game and a 157 2nd game. And leading the way with her 3rd 300 + series in a row was Taylor Sealock with a 159 – 162 = 321 series. The girls did decent at this match. They shot another team game over 700 with a 731. All 10 individual games were over 100. Courtney Hartman shot the high series with a 310. Games were 150 and 160. Caroline Woodrome is showing a lot of consistency of late with another game of 158. Taylor Sealock is starting to show some dominance with her 2nd 300 series and a high game of 176. Faith Stolzenberger came off the bench with a 135 game to help the girls. The girls also shot 4 baker games over 119. Even though they lost it was a decent outing for the girls Varsity team.
The JV Team won as they were paced by a surprise bowler that has been struggling of late. Abby Forkner bowled a 134 and a 165 for a 299 series. Marci Finley helped the cause with a solid performance of 130 and a 119. Record 2 wins – 5 losses

12/29/2010 Monroe’s New Year’s Tournament Eastern Lanes

The girls did well. They were pretty much consistent in the mid to low 400 series range. Courtney Hartman 133- 146-137 = 416 series, Sarah Ihle 136 – 125 – 181 = 442 series, Taylor Sealock 170 – 122 – 138 = 430 series, and leading the way was junior Caroline Woodrome with a 145 – 150 – 157 = 452 series. For this year, their 679 – 656 – 701 team games were 3 of their best scores. They were also very consistent in their Baker games with 4 games from 152 to 157. They finished with 2887 total pins and finished 7th in the tournament. It was a pretty good showing for the girls. The JV team continued to work on finding their marks and trying to roll a consistent game. Lauren Weaver and Faith Stolzenberger placed 5th and 3rd respectively on the All - Tournament team for the JV teams. Lauren had a 324 series and Faith had a 335 series. Brooke Weaver also had her best day of bowling with a pair of games over 100. (102 and 114)

12/15/2010 Monroe vs. Middletown Eastern Lanes

We are going to be improving all year and currently the Middies were just too advanced for us. Our girls gave a good effort but hopefully by the end of the year we will have enough experience to give them a run at sectionals. Courtney Hartman bowled ok with a 116 – 149 = 265 series. Caroline Woodrome came down from her 200 game and bowled a 149 – 110 = 259 series. Sarah Ihle bowled ok with a 124 – 119 = 243 series but Lauren Weaver bowled 20 pins above her average with a 119. It’s her highest game of the season. Taylor Sealock has raised her average from below 100 to 130 and climbing with scores like she put up against the Middies of 169 – 158 = 327 series. This is her 1st ever 300 series match. We hope to see many more matches like this from her.
Record 2 wins – 4 losses

12/11/2010 Holiday Tournament Western Bowl

Caroline bowled her 1st ever 200+ game with a 201 1st game. She followed it up with a 160 and a 127 for her best ever 3 game series of 488. 12/4/2010 Big Blue Tournament Columbia Lanes

We decided to try our luck with the Big Blue Tournament for Everyone but Caroline this is the 1st –ever tournament that they have participated in as a bowler. Most I can safely say have not even watched a bowling tournament on TV. So this was interesting. Courtney Hartman bowled a 152 – 130 – 127 = 409 series for her 1st series over 400. Caroline Woodrome showed her veteran status as she rolled a 121 – 166 – 142 = 429 series. Brittany Johnson bowled her best yet with a 131 – 114 – 89 = 334 series. Erin Verkley shot a 119 and a 104 for her best 2 game series of the year. Lauren Weaver shot a 114, Abby Martin shot a 107 and Rachel Robbins bowled her 1st ever game over 100 with a 103. Marci Finley also shot her 1st ever game over 100 with a 2nd game of 123. We finished in the lower half of the tournament but it still was one of our better showings at Big Blue.

12/1/2010 West Carrollton Eastern Lanes

Finally the girls put it together this night as the beat west Carrollton for their 1st win of the season. Bowling her 1st ever 300 series was Courtney Hartman with also her 1st and the teams 1st 200 game of the year. Her scores were a 203 – 138 = 341. Taylor Sealock is gradually coming out of her shell bowling a 146 – 139 = 285 series. Record 1 win and 3 losses

11/30/2010 Fairfield Fairfield Lanes

The girls are really starting to improve their game as we are looking to get at least 5 girls over 100 in a single game. It wasn’t to be this night but it’s the 3rd straight night where they have improved their individual games. Caroline Woodrome had the 1st 300 series for the girls with a 166 – 138 = 304 series. This was also her 1st game of the year over 150. Taylor Sealock finally decided to get in the picture when she rolled her 1st game over 100 with a 139 score. Abbey Forkner bowled her highest of the season with a 114. And Lauren Weaver also decided she can bowl when she let loose a 120 1st game.
Record 0 wins – 3 losses

11/22/2010 Franklin Eastern Lanes

The Girls team started off a little slow as not everyone shot over 100 at our 1st match of the year. Granted we have only had 1 practice but it goes to show that we have a lot of work to do. Junior Caroline Woodrome led the way for the girls by shooting a 274 series (134 – 140). Freshman Courtney Hartman shot her first of what we hope to be many games over 150 as her 2nd game was a 152.
Record 0 wins – 1 loss
